Bukit Antarabangsa Tragedy
I received a call from my friend in the wee hours of the morning that a landslide had hit his home. At that time, my mind, foggy from been woken up so early, thought that maybe it just a small landslide. Getting restless and wondering if the family is okay, we checked the early news on television. There, the the true picture emerged. 14 bungalows were hit and several people were killed including my friends wife.
It was a sad day indeed for me as we knew the family well. We wrote the Wills for this couple several months earlier and it never once crossed my mind that such a tragedy would happen to this young family. In an instant, so much is lost. A loved one, a mother, a home, cars, documents, personal belongings, photos. Practically everything.
This is a reminder that we can never take things for granted. And because things usually don’t end up like how we expect, we must prepare as much as possible. If you have not written your Will, then don’t delay. If you have done so, make sure it is kept safely. We never know when our time on earth is up.
If you have not seen the news footage, the video below gives you an idea how bad the landslide was.
