Update Your Will

Recently, I read that in the UK, a survey was done about those who have written their Will. It seems that for those who have a Will:-

• 33% have not updated their Will in the past year,
• 15% have not updated in 10 years

Only about 18%, have updated their Will in the past 5 to 10 years. These figures are provided by Unbiased.co.uk

I do not know what the percentage for Malaysia is. I don’t think anyone has done such a survey yet but I reckon it will be lower since some of the people we meet, told us there is no need to change since their assets are quite simple. Well based on what we know about some of the clients i.e. business people, their assets are anything but simple.  Sometimes it is difficult to convince some people once they have set their mind on something. Other than that, I’m very sure a lot less people write their Will here compared to the UK.

Our suggestion is to read through your Will at least once a year to see if there are any significant changes. If there is, then you can always check with us to see if you need to update your Will. From there, we can advise you whether you should update your Will or not.
